Move the Masses partner with York Mind to provide wellbeing workouts

Move the Masses are delighted to be working in partnership with York Mind as part of this year's Mental Health and Well-being Activities Programme; a three year strategy of mental health provision funded by City of York Council.

Starting in July 2019, we will be running free pop-up workouts to teach people how to exercise in their local open space without the need for any additional equipment as part of the wellbeing side of the programme.

Here at Move the Masses, we know that physical activity helps to manage stress, low mood, anxiety and depression. It also helps with cardiovascular health, improving muscle tone and prevents the onset of many diseases and health conditions. We love getting people moving and we want everyone to love moving too!

There will be weekly sessions run on a Monday at 2pm at Homestead Park in Clifton over a 12 week period, between the 8th July and 30th September (excluding the August bank holiday). These sessions require you to enrol through York Mind, but you can complete a registration form when you come to the session. You can attend weekly, or on a drop in basis. There's more information here.

Scheduled also are weekly Wednesday sessions at 2pm where we'll meet at Millennium Bridge, at the Maple Grove end. These workouts will be based around the new fitness equipment on Millennium Fields and the sessions are very versatile, with loads of different exercises to try.

Our sessions are for all ability levels and have an informal and fun feel. You can do as much or as little as you like or you can just come along and observe. We also have online videos so participants can view workouts for guidance and inspiration.

Further Dates for pop-up fitness sessions will follow in 2020.
